Not so glamorous

The Store

The clothing world can be glamorous. Fashion shows, famous designers, celebrities, travel, high-voltage parties, bright lights, everyone frenetically striving for the next New Thing. But when you have a brick-and-mortar store like we do, you have to take care of the brick and mortar, too. Not so glamorous.   Today's project? Get the high-rise light fixtures in our parking lot working properly. Unimportant right now when the days are long, but very important in the fall and winter when it gets dark long before closing time. Sounds simple enough, but those powerful lights are on a pole that's two stories...

Lights, Camera, Action!

Miscellaneous The Store

Lights! Camera! Action!   Who knows what you will stumble upon when you come to PlainClothes? One afternoon recently we played host to Southern Living Magazine's creative team when they came to film a "How to Tie a Bow Tie" vignette for the ongoing online series "Southern Know-How". Check our special events page to see...

Miscellaneous The Store

Santa doesn't work alone. They don't even get to ride in the sleigh. So a few years back we decided to reward them ourselves, with Christmas cookies and hot apple cider. Soon we discovered that many...

Happy New Year.

Miscellaneous The Store

Time for us all to take our pulse and and see if we've survived the hectic holiday season. Time to put away the trees and trimmings and unpack our cold-weather coats, hats, gloves and sweaters. We have such a short window of opportunity here for wearing anything warm and fuzzy that it's now or never. And in our part of the world, cold weather coincides with sale time, creating the ideal buy now/wear now opportunity as a bonus for buyers. Shopkeepers know that spring collections will be arriving any day now, so for us it's out with old and...
